    Description

    Ex-Grinnell Inverted Reverse Bison

Fr. 122 $10 1901 Legal Tender PCGS Extremely Fine 40.
One of the great errors in the Merlau Collection, with this piece tracing its pedigree back to the Grinnell Collection, where it appeared in the November, 1944 sale as lot 391. The Sullivan census lists just three serial numbers, but a fourth can be added to that compilation, as we sold a stained Apparent Very Fine 25 specimen in our 2013 Central States sale for over $3500. This piece, which is a lovely and totally unimpaired Extremely Fine 40, is immeasurably better.
    Ex-Albert A. Grinnell sale, November, 1944, Lot 391.
