Double Inverted Star San Francisco $100 FRN Error

Fr. 2150-L* $100 1928 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Very Fine 25.
A double inverted star error which is highly unusual as this rare error type is normally associated with only one "*" being upside down. In this case, the note had both star plugs inserted in the serial number wheels upside down. This error has the crown point for both rotated 180 degrees and pointing downwards. Later, the BEP would make the "*" plug in such a way that it could only be inserted correctly. We have offered only two other double inverted star errors. A Fr. 2050-B* $20 grading PMG VF 30 realized $4,800 in April, 2018 and a Fr. 2150-K* $100 grading PCGS VF 20 which realized $6,600 in January, 2018.
