Fr. 1850-F $5 1929 Federal Reserve Bank Note. PCGS Fine 15.The first of a pair of interesting missing black ink overprint errors on Federal Reserve Bank Notes from Atlanta. This example has serial number F00652019A and the other example in the next lot is just four serial numbers removed with serial number F00652015A. These two notes would have originally come from the same six-subject sheet. Federal Reserve Bank Notes were hastily printed during President Roosevelt's declared banking holiday during March 1933. Because of the amount of notes and the speed needed to print them, it is easy to see how at least one sheet of $5s missed the printing of its black ink Federal Reserve Bank name and district letters among the 4,210,000 six-subject sheets that were printed for all of the eleven districts (no $5s were printed for Richmond). This does not even take into account the printing of the other denominations. This note is certainly a great error for the specialists to ponder.
