Unique Second Charter Date Back $50/100 Double Denomination

Buffalo, NY- $50/100 1882 Date Back Fr. 559/567 The Columbia NB Ch. # (E)4741 About Uncirculated. The first of a pair of double denomination examples which represent all of the reported $50/100 and $100/50 Second Charter double denominations. This pair traces its pedigree back to the Grinnell sale, where it appeared as lot 1738. It then went respectively into the Schermerhorn, Bass and Taylor Family collections. It is a lovely pair, with the only distraction worthy of mention a scattering of pinholes at the left end. We are offering these notes as separate lots, but in the hope that the pair be retained as such.
