    Description

HB-202 EP-54 3¢ Pearce, Tolle & Holton About New. The case is virtually mint state, with traces of luster, the stamp is a bit off fully bright and the mica has some cracks, crazes and a small break at the upper left. This is an extremely rare merchant, with only about 20 pieces known for all denominations combined. The 3¢ and 5¢ are the most available. The Hodder-Bowers book puts the census for Pearce 3¢ pieces at, "Fewer than six known," and from our experience we're inclined to agree. This is a great piece that we've had the privilege of handling twice before. It has been a part of the major Three Cent Collection for the past decade.
