DescriptionHB-186 EP-87 Reed-NO05 5¢ John W. Norris Extremely Fine.
An extreme rarity which Reed considers to be an R-9, indicating two to four known, a number with which we agree. We personally know of three: The Mayer example, the June 2004 example, and this piece, which was acquired by Bill Kelly in 1999. The case is a wholly natural medium brown, without a hint of a flaw. The mica has some mild separations which are visible only when the piece is rotated in the light. The stamp is a trifle toned and soiled, but it remains pleasing.
