DescriptionHB-172 EP-153 Reed-LT12 12¢ Lord & Taylor Very Fine.
The degree of circulation wear on the case shows this piece spent a fair amount of time actually moving about in the channels of commerce. Fred Reed considers this 12¢ Lord & Taylor to be an R-8, indicating that five to ten examples are known. We agree. The case is a nice, even light brown color, and the stamp is very well centered and reasonable bright. The mica is primarily clear, but it does have one small break through to the stamp on Washington's face.
