DescriptionHB-132 EP-79 5¢ J. Gault Ribbed Frame Extremely Fine.
Ribbed encasements are much more scarce than their plain counterparts. Fred Reed lists this one as R-4 (31-40 known). The stamp is well centered and a deep, rich brown color. The mica is intact with only a couple of small areas of crazing at the top. The case is a golden-chestnut brown and free of any defects. The ribbing on the front is distinct and sharp. Once housed in the Nate Smith collection (lot 1786), this is a lovely, high quality piece.
