    Description

    HB-1 EP-1 Reed-AB01 1¢ Aerated Bread Very Fine.
The One Cent is the only collectable denomination for this merchant. Fred Reed shows 56 auction appearances between the years 1891 and 1994, which includes considerable duplication. He lists the piece as an R-7, indicating eleven to fifteen known. The Hodder-Bowers reference agrees, stating "...very rare, with under fifteen different specimens believed to survive." While fifteen known usually does not command a very high premium for an encasement, this Aerated Bread 1¢ is in a different category. It is the only denomination available for the merchant other than the 5¢ which is unique, and no other denominations were produced. The case shows a fair amount of actual circulation wear but is problem free. The mica is outstanding, with only very minor separations, none of which affects its clarity. The stamp is just off of fully fresh, and is a bold, attractive blue.
