    T45 $1 1862 PF-1 Cr. 342.
Printed by Blanton Duncan, this $1 features a somewhat inexpertly done portrait of Lucy Pickens and an odd vignette on the left that incorporates a portion of the Argentina and Uruguay coat of arms ("The Sun of May"). Duncan unilaterally added the green protector to this design, but was rebuffed by Treasury officials in his attempts to recover his costs because they had not authorized the addition. As a result he stopped adding the protector, creating the T44 $1. He printed 412,500 of this design before he ceased adding the protector. PCGS grades this attractive fully framed example Choice About New 58.
