    Description

    T41 $100 1862 PF-18 Cr. 322.
Our consignor liked "J Whatman 1862" watermarked notes in high grade. PF-18 is listed in the Fricke field manual as a R(are) V(ariety) and as a Rarity 9+ (51 -100 known). Also, in the first edition of the Fricke reference, it is mentioned that only 400 to 550 PF-18s were issued. This is a fully framed example with paper originality, an 1863 issued and 1864 interest paid to Jackson stampings and an 1865 Augusta stamping. Pencilled Criswell and Bradbeer numbers in two different hands are found on the back and we do see a pinhole. We like Confederate notes with pencilled collector notations and as far as the pinhole is concerned, well, it was wartime. Choice Crisp Uncirculated.
