    Montgomery $50

T4 $50 1861. The lowest denomination of the four Confederate notes issued from the Montgomery capitol, the Type 4 $50 has survived at almost exactly the same rate as the $100s with just over 150 examples known from the original issue of 1,606 pieces. This Very Fine example from the Kennedy collection has perfect colors and bold signatures, and is perfectly original and problem-free save for moderate wear, several pinholes, and a bold endorsement on the back that is partially visible from the face. Bearing serial number 1574, this is the second highest serial number known for the type. A beautiful note, and one that nicely rounds out this wonderful Montgomery quartet.
