    T19 $20 1861 PF-1 Cr. 317 PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
This Southern Bank Note Company printed note was only produced as one subject on a four subject $50-$20-$10-$5 sheet. Only 14,860 notes were issued between January and May of 1862 before the fall of New Orleans brought a permanent end to production. It remains unclear as to why the plates were not removed from the city before it fell in late April 1862. This note is a lovely mid-grade example on good paper with bright unoxidized protectors. The only mention by PMG is a lightly penciled annotation on the back right edge that affects nothing. These SBNCo notes are disappearing quickly as collectors snap up examples with no problems.

    Estimate: $2,000 - up.
