Manuscript Endorsement "Ferdinand Molloy" T6 $50 1861 PF-1 Cr. 6 PCGS Choice About New 55PPQ.
A lovely $50 sporting paper originality, excellent color, and just the slightest hint of circulation, this note is sure to draw many interested eyes. The penned issuing statement on the back reads, "Disbursed Sep 22 / 1861 / Ferdinand Molloy / Capt(ain) & A(ssistant) C(ommissary) (of) S(ubsistence)." Captain Molloy was on the staff of General P.G.T. Beauregard. This note establishes a direct link to the short-lived Confederate Army of the Potomac that operated from April 1861 to March 14, 1862. On the latter date, it was renamed the more familiar, Army of Northern Virginia.
