    Odd alteration on T69 $5

    T39 $100 1862 PF-5 Cr. 291 PMG About Uncirculated 55;
    T69 $5 1864 PF-1 Cr. 558 PMG Very Fine 25.
    PMG notes minor rust on the $100 which has three Montgomery IP stamps suggesting this note sat out the war in a bank vault or strong box. The $5 has an obviously period and quite odd alteration of the ratification text, with "the United States" being crossed out and replaced with "(indecipherable) Car and Iron Works." An intriguing research project for the next owner. (Total: 2 notes)
