DescriptionPayable at Marshall, Texas Ball 367 $1000 July 6, 1864 Six Per Cent Non Taxable Certificate PMG Very Fine 25 Net.
A rare Trans-Mississippi example that was payable at the depositary in Marshall, Texas. As the war progressed, Marshall became more and more important as a seat of civil authority, arms manufacturer, home to Missouri's Confederate government-in-exile, and finally the intended destination of the Richmond government fleeing from Union armies. This example was signed by Rose and is of the short transfer form on the back variety. Its serial number is 256 and therefore should be of the long transfer form on the back variety according to the Ball reference. A historical piece that is worthy of both pride and research. The Net grade is for foxing.
