    Description

    Marshall, TX- Confederate Exchange Certificate $900 Dec. 24, 1864. This 3 by 6 inch partly printed form was for the exchange of $900 of "Old Issue" notes (pre-1864 notes) for two-thirds "New Issue" (1864 Notes.) This was a way for the Confederacy to fight inflation. This certificate was made out to and endorsed by Dr. J.H. Starr. Starr was Secretary of the Treasury of the Republic of Texas in the late 1830s and early 1840s. About Uncirculated.
