DescriptionConfederate Watermarked Paper.
An interesting sheet measuring approximately 14.5 by 23 inches. There is only one watermark, a large rendition of the Confederate Seal (a vignette of the seal is found on the T64 $500) with the words "Confederate States of America." The watermark measures approximately 10.5 by 6.5 inches. For more information on this watermarked paper, we instruct our readers to read page 15 of the second edition of Comprehensive Catalog and History of Confederate Bonds by Douglas B. Ball and Henry F. Simmons, Jr. Basically, the Belvidere Paper Works near Richmond submitted this paper early in 1864 to the Confederate Treasury for a possible contract to supply paper for upcoming bonds that would not be redeemed for 30 years. The Treasury declined to use this watermarked paper. However, luckily for collectors, a few have made it into the numismatic market place. Extremely Fine, with some edge wear and aging.
