    Description

    Confederate 8% Stock Certificate $1000 February 28, 1861 Ball 16 Cr. 4
A younger Jefferson Davis, depicted while a U.S. Senator, is seen in the portrait on this denomination. This example is numbered 485, dated April 18, 1861, and was part of the Montgomery issue. Once again, we see that HD Capers entered the certificate, CT Jones recorded it, and Alexander B. Clitherall was the signer. A small hole is seen near the lower left corner on this Very Fine+ stock certificate that is cut slightly into the design at left.
