DescriptionBall UNL $1000 1863 Jefferson, Texas Issued Bond Very Good-Fine.
Ball does not list any of these being issued from Jefferson, Texas as this bond was on April 19, 1864 by CSA depositary Sam. F. Moseley. This example has the two line red overprint of "This Bond ...who issues it." It also has a serial number that is just 48 before the serial numbers that were issued at Shreveport from May to September 1864 (Ball 245.) Jefferson and Shreveport are only approximately 40 miles apart. There is ink erosion in the "Sam" part of the signature on the verso that also produces a small hole at the bottom of the "Stonewall" Jackson portrait. It is still an exciting Confederate bond. A few small holes from folding are also noticed.
