    Ball 349 Cr. 162F 1864 $10,000 Call Certificate.
    This is a call certificate for a $10,000 loan with an interest rate of 4% per annum. It was printed in sheets of two and this is the first position certificate as the "Four Per Cent" is on one line. It is listed in the Ball reference as Type 169, letterpressed on pink paper. It was signed by Charles A. Rose on Sept. 3, 1854. Rose was a Richmond notary public who became the Assistant Register of the Confederate Treasury. It was issued on September 26, 1864 by G. W. Cunningham, a Major in the Quartermaster Corps in charge of the clothing department. A penned note on the front states it was redeemed at Augusta, Ga.
