DescriptionBall 151 Cr. 114 $1000 1862 Bond Remainder PMG Choice Very Fine 35 Net.
A very rare Confederate Bond that is making its first appearance in one of our auctions. While 1000 certificates were prepared, none were issued, according to the Ball-Simmons reference, due to the Erlanger Loan. John J. Ford did manage to acquire a few pieces directly from the Erlanger firm in the 1950's but, shortly thereafter, the vast majority were destroyed. Over the years, a couple of remainders have also turned up including tonight's offering. This attractive remainder has a few minor splits and tears but maintains an overall pleasing appearance with boldly printed details. A great piece of Confederate financial history that is seldom offered.
