    Description

    T66 $50 1864. Havana Counterfeit. CT-66/496
This is an example of the so-called $50 Havana counterfeit. This example is the "1st Series" variety that has the XA plate letters along with written signatures and widely spaced machine printed serial numbers. There is not a flourish over "Con" in "Confederate." This is a Rarity 7 with an estimated 9 - 16 known to exist, see Counterfeit Currency of the Confederate States of America, by George R. Tremmel.
