    T64 $500 1864.
    An attractive $500 Confederate note featuring the portrait of General Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson. Jackson was mistaken for the enemy by Confederate pickets at Chancellorsville and was fired upon and hit. His left arm had to be amputated and he died eight days later as a result of complications of pneumonia. Upon learning of his death, General Robert E. Lee remarked, "I have lost my right arm." Stonewall Jackson's left arm lies to this day in the Ellwood family plot near Chancellorsville with a headstone stating the day the arm was amputated, May 3, 1863. PCGS About New 53PPQ.
