    T64 $500 1864 PF-2 Cr. 489.
    The $500 was introduced in early 1864 for the first time, since the opening days of the war. The motivation had changed from offering an investment vehicle to coping with inflation. Ironically, this largest denomination of the 1864 series did not have a back design. PMG grades this example Choice Uncirculated 63. It is consecutive to the lot above.
