    Description

    T64 $500 1864 PF-2 Cr. 489 PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
This design was the first $500 to be introduced into circulation since the earliest days of the war. Unlike the Montgomery $500 that was viewed by most as an interest bearing investment, this note was needed due to accelerating inflation as the war was winding down. This example is the "dusky pink" variety. PMG notes a miniscule lightly penciled annotation on the back that has no bearing on this note's grade or desirability.
