    T64 $500 1864 PF-2 Cr. 489 PCGS Choice New 63.
This design was the first $500 to be introduced into circulation since the earliest days of the war. Unlike the Montgomery $500 that was viewed by most as an interest bearing investment, this note was needed due to accelerating inflation as the war was winding down. This is a well preserved example of the "dusky pink" variety.
