    The penned inscription on the back reads, "Presented to Johan Margerum by Milt G. Barlow March 9th 1891 the great Negro commedian (sic) [Barlow was actually a blackface white comedian who was active as a minstrel and vaudeville actor from 1867-1903]. He was a Confederate soldier. Belonged Mc???? command that was terably (sic) whiped (sic) and routed at Moorefield, West Va. after burning and pillaging Chambersburg, Pa by Gen. Averill's command compound of the 8th Ohio Cav(alry). Ringgold cav(alry) is Va???? cavalry. signed - Johan Margerum Co. F Ringgold Cav(alry) Pa Vol(unteers). Barlow, the Lexington, Kentucky native, surrendered with General Robert E. Lee's cavalry at Appomattox in April 1865. Barlow's most notably performances were in Uncle Tom's Cabin where he played the title role. Very Good, with edge wear. There will be no returns on this lot for any reason.
