Counterfeit 1864 $50, CT-66/501, Very Fine. Counterfeits of this number are from the 1st Series and have the ZA plate letters along with written signatures and machine printed serial numbers. There is also a flourish over "Con" in Confederate. This scarce counterfeit dealt a brief economic blow to the Confederacy by picking up a few vertical and one lateral fold. Rarity 6, estimated 51 - 75 to exist, see Counterfeit Currency of the Confederate States of America, by George R. Tremmel.
