    1912 Treasury Department Dispersal Letter with Four Confederate 1864 Notes PMG Graded.
    The United States Treasury Department in the early part of the twentieth century chose to distribute Confederate notes to Grand Army of the Republic posts and libraries throughout the nation for exhibition purposes. Four 1864 notes graded by PMG are in this lot plus an October 1912 letter with the printed signature of Secretary of the Treasury Franklin MacVeagh. This lot contains a T66 $50 PF-11 Cr. 500 graded Very Fine 25, a T68 $10 PF-30 Cr. UNL graded Very Fine 25 Net with rust and a tear that is approximately a quarter inch in length, a T68 $10 PF-31 Cr. 549 graded Fine 12 Net with tears and rust, and a T69 $5 PF-7 Cr. 561 graded Very Fine 20 Net with a tear. This grouping was originally sent to the Fred W. Walker GAR Post in Mount Morris, Michigan. (Total: 5 items)
