DescriptionTremmel SF58 $20 1863 PF-17 Cr. 426.
Despite being listed as a contemporary counterfeit on the third party label, this is actually a genuine T58 note that was part of a heist from the Treasury-Note Bureau of 2nd Series $20 notes. The signatures and issue dates were later forged. The forged notes also have a period instead of a comma between the month and year of the issue date. The August 1863 issue date of this forged note is not listed in the Tremmel reference. See A Guide Book of Counterfeit Confederate Currency by George B. Tremmel, pages 225-6. The net grade is due to a missing lower left corner. PMG About Uncirculated 55 Net.
