DescriptionT46 $10 1862 PF-1 Cr. 344.
This design was quietly awarded to Hoyer & Ludwig even though their contracts had been officially pulled because they refused to relocate to Columbia, SC in 1862. They were not allowed to place their imprint on the note, but Ludwig had the last laugh, hiding "LUDWIG" in the foreground beneath the bale in the central vignette. This note has two errors - the text reads "Six Month" and the date is wrong (should have been 1861, not 1862). The first error was corrected, but the date was left alone. Very Fine, with a tiny hole in the top center margin and a small divot in the bottom margin between the P and T in EXCEPT.
