The frame lines on this military issued Hoer note are incredible. All four margins are large and even. On back is a boldly penned issue date of February 5, 1863 by James G. Paxton, Quartermaster. Paxton had several postings, serving as Captain and Assistant Quartermaster at Jackson's River, Virginia through December, 1861, Major and Inspector of Field Transportation, Southwest Virginia, June 1864, and in the Quartermaster Department, Lynchburg, Virginia.
