O.H.P. Cavender - Texas CSA postmaster endorsementT41 $100 1862 PF-23.
Part of a very interesting run of perhaps ten notes, this $100, which also has the telltale "T" to the left of the center vignette, had its interest paid to January 1,1863 by O.H.P. Cavender, who served as the CSA postmaster of Leona, TX from 1861-64. Very Fine-Extremely Fine. This note raises some interesting questions about the possible role of postmasters as fiscal agents of the Confederate government in more isolated areas.
