"Col. G. J. Layter" endorsement

    T41 $100 1862 PF-16 Cr. 320.
As is the case with a number of these Hoer notes, the action is on the back. This example has a large issue stamp from the Jackson, MS assistant treasurer's office, showing that the note was issued Jan. 8, 1863. Just below the stamp, there is an intriguing pencil manuscript notation that is worthy of further research: "Col. G. J. Layter (?) / June 4/63." A black 1864 Charleston IP stamp is also present, along with three attempts at 1864 and 1865 IP stamps, none of which were readable due to insufficient inking. The note itself is a fully framed Very Fine example.
