Description

    T41 $100 1862 PF-15 Cr. 316.
A mysterious note as the penned issued statement on the back reads, "Issued Maj. C.J. Severson A(ssistant) Q(uarter) M(aster) May 17, 1863." Severson's signature does not match either of the two examples shown in Confederate Issuers of Train and Hoer Notes by Michael McNeil. In the McNeil reference, it is stated that one of the signatures is secretarial. Now we must speculate that the signature on this $100 is either of Severson or it is secretarial. This $100 is cited for a small edge tear at bottom right and a small rust stain. The small tear reaches the frame line. PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.
