DescriptionT41 $100 1862 PF-11 Cr. 319A.
A Hoer note that was part of a military issue from San Antonio, Texas by Major Charles Russell of the Confederate States Provisional Army serving as Acting Brigade Commissary of Subsistence. Notes issued by Major Russell are quite scarce and our estimate may well prove conservative. This $100 was issued on January 2, 1863. A handwritten interest paid notation to January 1, 1865 is also seen on the back. The note was printed on watermarked paper with "CSA" in script letters and the entire watermark is visible on this example graded by PMG as Choice Very Fine 35 EPQ. Crutchfield's extensive research on Major Russell appears on pages 201-203 in McNeil's Confederate Issuers of Train and Hoer Notes reference.
