DescriptionT40 $100 1862. PF-5 Cr. 309.
An evenly circulated note with strong remaining design details and just a few minor edge splits mentioned by the grading service. On back is the endorsement of John R. Viley, Major and Quartermaster from Kentucky. He served in the Confederate Army from October 1862 to April 1865 and issued this note on the behalf of the CSA on January 8, 1863. His service during that time was under the commands of Helm, Lewis, Breckinridge, Bates, and Hood. A payment sheet from early 1864 shows Viley earned $162 a month, making this note a representation of more than half a month's pay for him. PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.
