These two 1863 dated notes represent both the "near" and "far" plate letter varieties. The "near" variety grades Extremely Fine, with a handwritten entry indicating that the note had been issued to the field on April 15, 1863 along with two unidentified black IP stamps paying interest to January 1, 1864 and 1865. The "far" variety grades Very Fine, with a lone black Jackson, MS IP stamp paying interest to January 1, 1865. There are two spots of barely detectable mounting residue on the back.
