DescriptionT40 $100 1862 PF-1 Cr. 298/300.
It is a jump ball whether the sub plate letter "c" on this note is large or small, so your cataloger has opted to list both Criswell numbers. This example still has the plateman's name of McDonald in the right face margin as well as a bold endorsement on the back from an unnamed assistant quartermaster noting that this piece was issued in Houston, Texas on April 1, 1863. There is also a black two-line 1865 interest paid to stamp on the back that is normally associated with Texas. PMG grades this note About Uncirculated 53, although mentioning a corner tear (lower left corner tip?) and minor thinning on the back of the holder.
