DescriptionT39 $100 1862 PF-2.
From the short press run of notes printed by Hoyer & Ludwig and issued over a period of just five days from May 5-9, 1862, this $100 has a red Bogus Back as well as 1863, 1864, and 1865 Raleigh, NC IP stamps. There are two schools of thought on these bogus backs: one that they were printed for the collector and/or theatrical market and the other that they were perhaps some type of experimental or essay notes. In any case, PMG grades this example Choice About Uncirculated 58, noting that there is minor ink erosion (in the word "May" in the date).
