DescriptionT39 $100 1862 PF-2.
From the first short press run of five days by Hoyer & Ludwig, this "Straight Steam" variety $100 has a so-called "Bogus Back" printed in olive drab. There is some discussion whether these backs were intended for circulation purposes or merely added to create new collector varieties or stage money in the decades immediately following the war. IP stamps for Interest payments in 1863, 1864, and 1865 are noted with the latter two being from Raleigh. PMG grades this example Choice Uncirculated 63.
