Description

Endorsed by G.B. Fleece, Railroad Superintendent

    T39 $100 1862 PF-2.
Part of the very short May 5-9, 1862 issue of notes printed by Hoyer & Ludwig, this note was endorsed by G.B. Fleece, identified by Fricke as a railroad superintendent, in October 1863. A search of on-line sources suggests that a slaveholder by this name was living in Macon circa 1863 and so there is a good chance that the note was endorsed in Macon, which is also the location for the January, 1864 interest payment. Additional Augusta and Savannah IP stamps suggest that this note did not circulate very widely. PMG grades this fully framed note Choice Very Fine 35.
