T39 $100 1862 PF-2 Cr. UNL.
An interesting note with a post-war bogus "sunburst" red back design. Bogus backs on Confederate notes are discussed on pages 48-50 of Fricke's Field Edition 2014. This $100 note had its bogus "sunburst" red back printed first and then three black Raleigh interest paid to stampings were added on top to further give legitimacy to this note in the eyes of unsuspecting collectors of the late 1800s. This example with serial number 1312-Ad grades PCGS Choice About New 55. We had serial number 1321-Ad with the same bogus back and grading PCGS 53 bring $1057.50 last October as part of the Eric P. Newman Collection.
