    Serial number 197-A adorns this $100 that is dated on the first day of issue, May 5, 1862. Interest paid to stampings in yearly order are seen on the back from Charleston, Richmond, and Columbia. The apparent grade is for a stain in the upper left corner. The stain is small. Serial number 196-A is also in this auction. PCGS Apparent Very Fine 35.
