The back is endorsed with "R(ichard) M. B(ooker) 11.10-62." Booker would rise to the rank of captain and assistant provost marshal. He served in Virginia and North Carolina. He took medical leave of absences in 1864 and 1865. The war ended while he was waiting for a post to Richmond. He was paroled at Richmond on April 20, 1865. We want to thank Michael McNeil, author of Confederate Quartermasters, Commissaries, and Agents for supplying the update on Captain Booker.
