DescriptionManuscript Endorsement "H(enry) E. Loebnitz" T41 $100 1862 PF-20 Cr. 316A.
An exciting new endorser from the Trans-Mississippi Department that is not listed in the McNeil reference, but Loebnitz is included in Fricke's Field Edition 2014 with a rarity rating of R15, one known. Loebnitz' war record is that he served in the quartermaster corps, first with the 4th Texas Cavalry in 1861, then was attached to General H.H. Sibley's Army of New Mexico in 1862, next it was back to the 4th Texas Cavalry in 1863, and then due to disability, it was on to Houston for 1864-65 with the rank of captain. He was paroled in Houston on June 22, 1865. The note's story is that it was originally issued in Jackson. Next it has a penned issued statement by A(ssistant) Q(uarter) M(aster) H.E. Loebnitz dated "Feby 9th, 1863." It is known that at this time the 4th Texas Cavalry served in the defense of south Louisiana. Finally, this $100 has a penned "Int paid to Jany 1 1865" statement. The Net grade on this fully framed and strongly embossed piece is for stains. The staining blends in with the note. PMG About Uncirculated 55 Net.
