Manuscript Endorsement "A.S. Camp" T40 $100 1862 PF-20 Cr. 308.
A note that was issued by Captain Anthony S. Camp AQM. Camp served with the 1st and 27th Consolidated Regiment of the Tennessee Infantry. This unit first served under General Lee in Virginia during the Cheat Mountain Campaign. Next it fought at Shiloh, and then it participated in the Perryville campaign. The 1st/27th would go on to fight in the Atlanta Campaign, too. The end of the war saw this decimated unit in North Carolina. Camp is listed in Fricke 2014 as a R15, one known, but with the help of the McNeil reference, we know that there are at least two examples now. Also residing on the back of this note are a Richmond issued from stamp, two different interest paid to stampings, a penned name, and an interest computation of $8.10. This note traveled almost as much as the 1st/27th. PMG Very Fine 25, with tears.
