DescriptionJ.H. Childrey Ad Note T39 $100 1862.
An 1862 $100 with an incorrect penned year of "1861" is the host note of this Childrey advertising note. Childrey was a Richmond dealer in Confederate numismatic and philatelic items. This C-note has a serial number of 30430-Ad. The Thian Register list this serial number as having a date of "August 12 1862." The penned date was added to this note incorrectly as "August 12 1861." Signatures are legitimate on this note with W.T. Snead for Register and A. (S.) Watts for Treasurer. Source used was The Signers of Confederate Treasury Notes 1861-'65 by Michael McNeil. Fine with some light stains. There will be no returns on this lot for any reason.
