DescriptionJ. Whatman Watermarked T41 $100 1862.
Importantly, this note has the J. WHATMAN watermark. The paper was imported from Britain in 1862, evading the Union blockades in order to make it to the printer in Virginia. Only one note out of an eight-note sheet would have this watermark. Interest paid notations in several different colors of ink are seen on the back. Extremely Fine with minor problems, including several pinholes and areas of staining.
